Not a lot to report but even during the past weekend with fine weather and little wind, more shingle has been nibbled away.

This photo shows how the original channel has now closed altogether at low tide...the main channel now flowing towards and out from the second groyne.

Work continues to bank up the beach by the fourth groyne with shingle and sand  and later in the day restoration of the area adjacent to the yacht club.

At 6.30 this morning.

Little to report during the day....the digger was out again under a grey sky as the tide receded.

 ...but it wasn't until the afternoon that the sun broke through

...almost high tide.

The Day After a Spring High Tide

At 7.15 this morning I ventured to the Yacht Club and wandered back along the beach. Not a cloud in the sky but alas, a devastated beach!

 High tide was at about 1.30pm so another wander!

The first groyne under attack...every wave wobbling and  loosening it.

There are very few trees on the beach and this one will be gone quite soon.

A twitch! Birders trying to locate a rare gull...an Iceland Gull that has been present for a few days but is proving elusive.

...but it  sometimes visits the spit and sometimes disappears for hours at a time!

I last saw one of these in Pagham about 20 years ago so quite unusual....probably storm driven.
